St. John Fisher gets by Sage, 75-70 in OT

Pittsford, NY- Sage's women's basketball team travelled to western New York to take on St. John Fisher College on Friday night in an Empire 8 contest. After forcing overtime, Sage fell to the host Cardinals, 75-70 in overtime. With the loss, Sage drops to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in the league, while St. John Fisher is now 13-5 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

After trailing 7-0 to start the game, Sage trailed 36-29 at the half. The Gators outscored the Cardinals in the third and fourth quarters and forced overtime after tying play at 65-65 to end regulation. St. John Fisher and Sage were tied for the 12th time in the game at 70-70 with 1:13 left to play before Caroline Robertson hit a jumper and back to back free throws to pull away in the final minute. Robertson finished with 17 points while Erin Hurlbert added 20 points.

Sage's junior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added a team-best 23 points on Friday night. Senior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) added her 29th career double-double as she added 17 points with 10 rebounds and six blocked shots.  Junior guard Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Mekeel Christian Academy) also finished in double-digit scoring with her 14 points after collecting a perfect 4-4 from three-point range in the game. Sophomore Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) picked up a team-best 15 rebounds in the game with nine points for Sage.

Schoff added her 67th career game scoring in double-digits at Sage and continues her assault of the Gator career record book. Already Sage's career free throw leader, she has 380 made free throws to date. She is also climbing her way toward the No. 1 spot on the career scoring list as she now has 1,294 points and is inching closer to the scoring mark held by is Jocelyn Naple (1,421 points, 1994-1998). Schoff has also hauled in 815 career rebounds with 117 blocks, both second all-time at Sage. She has also now played in 99 career games.

Holmes surpassed the 500 career point plateau on Friday night with her efforts and now has 512 points, while Parlsow is now 10th in career scoring with 829 points. Parlsow is currently second in career three-pointers made with 146, while Holmes checks in with 113 and is now 4th all-time.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, January 27 at Nazareth College for a 4 p.m. Empire 8 match-up.
