Schoff and Parslow combine to lift Sage past Skidmore, 54-50 with play in the fourth quarter

Albany, NY- Sage's women's basketball team hosted Skidmore College on Tuesday night in a non-conference match-up with the Thoroughbreds. Sage picked up the 54-50 home win to improve to 4-2, while Skidmore drops to 3-3.

Sage held a 27-25 lead at the half over Skidmore after the Gators held an impressive 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Senior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) poured in nine points in the fourth quarter converting 4 of-6 shots from the floor and lifted the Gators to the win as she finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. She finished hitting 7-of-9 field goals and was a perfect 2-2 from the line as well to lead Sage.

Sage's junior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added nine of her points in the first half, while collecting two three pointers in the first half. She led the Gators in scoring with her 17 points having made three baskets from three-point range.

Skidmore held a one point lead with 2:26 left to play (48-47) before Schoff hit a layup at 2:08 to give Sage a 49-48 lead and give the Gators the momentum needed for the win as they never gave up the lead after that.  The score was Sage 51-50 with 49.4 seconds left to play and Skidmore had to foul Parlsow and she proceeded to hit 3 of the last four free throws she attempted, including the final score of the game at 4.6 left to give the Gators a 54-50 win.

Skidmore's junior forward Taylor Ong (Allentown, NH/Kimball Union Academy) and senior guard Kelly Donnelly (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) picked up nine point each in the first half as the Thoroughbreds closed the second quarter on a 10-2 run and trailed by only two points at the intermission after Sage held an 11 points lead to open the second quarter. Donnelly finished the night with a game-leading 19 points with six rebounds, while Ong netted nine points with four rebounds and three steals.

Schoff continues her climb of the Gator records as she has now tallied 1,115 career points (No. 3), with 716 rebounds (No. 3), and has 99 career blocks (No. 2).

Sage returns to action on December 7 travelling to Middlebury College for a 7 p.m. match-up on the road. Skidmore's next game is on December 8 hosting Middlebury College at 8 p.m.
