Sage drops heartbreaker at buzzer at DeSales, 66-63

Center Valley, PA- DeSales University benefit from a three-pointer as time expired by Kaitlyn Kelly to give the Bulldogs a 66-63 win on Saturday over The Sage Colleges' in women's basketball action. With the win, DeSales is now 4-2 and Sage drops to 3-2.

Sage held a 35-32 lead at the break and led 49-46 lead to start the fourth quarter. DeSales used a 12-2 run to open the final quarter and pulled ahead of the Gators 63-55 with 5:04 left to play. The Gators went on their own run spurred by the play of junior guard Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Mekeel Christian Academy) and senior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls). Holmes hit a three pointer at 4:23 and Schoff added a lay-up at 3:38, followed by another Holmes three-pointer at 2:56 for the seventh tie of the game (63-63).  For the next 2:55 neither team was able to get the ball to fall in for a score before DeSales' Kaitlyn Kelly hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Bulldogs to the 66-63 win.

For the game Holmes and junior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added 15 points each, while Schoff had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Parlsow tallied five three-pointers in the game with a 3-3 effort in the first half.

Sophomore forward Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) tallied nine points with seven rebounds in the game.

Schoff continues her climb of the Gator records as she has now tallied 1,099 career points (No. 3), with 708 rebounds (No. 3), and has 99 career blocks (No. 2).  Parslow and Holmes continue their run for the three-point record. After Saturday, Parslow has 112 career three-pointers and Holmes has 93 for the No. 3 and No. 8 spots on the list.

Sage returns to action on December 5 hosting Skidmore College in a 6 p.m. non-conference match-up in Kahl Gym.
