Holmes named to All-Tournament Team as Gators collect 62-58 win over PSU-Harrisburg

Gwynedd Valley, PA- The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team wrapped play at the Gwynedd Mercy College Tip-Off Tournament. The Gators collected a 62-58 win over Penn State Harrisburg tom improve to 1-1 on the season.

The Gators led 37-31 at the half, and started the game on a 16-2 run to earn the win. In the second quarter, PSU-Harrisburg tied the game 29-29 at the 4:08 mark but closed the quarter on an 8-2 run to lead at the intermission. In the second half, Sage would own a 10-point lead on four separate occasions, before a late-game run by PSU helped the team pull within two points with just 10 seconds left. Sage was able to make the late-game free throws as both junior guards Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Mekeel Christian Academy) buried back to back pairs of free throws in the final 15 seconds of play.

For the tournament, Holmes was named to the All-Tournament Team for her play. On Sunday, she had six points with four assists and one steal. Parslow led the team in the game with her 19 points with six rebounds and collected three baskets from three-point range.

Senior Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) added 16 points with six rebounds. Schoff continues her climb on the Gator record book in points and rebounds. She has 1,051 career and ranks fifth all-time in scoring, while adding 672 rebounds which stands third.

Sophomore forward Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) scored seven points with eight rebounds and a pair of blocks for the Gators. Rookie forward Madasyn Bush (Pottersville, NY/North Warren Central) added her first career double-double as she scored 10 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the action.

Sage is back in action on Tuesday, November 21 hosting RPI at 6 p.m. in the team's 2017-2018 home opener. Prior to the start of the game in Kahl Gym, Sage will unveil the championship banners last year's team captured after garnering the program's second Skyline Conference Tournament Championship and a spot in the 2017 NCAA Division III Tournament.
