Schoff and Bowman each net 18 points as Gators top USMMA, 52-43

Kings Point, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team travelled to face U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in a Skyline Conference showdown on Saturday. Sage triumphed 52-43 and collects the sweep on the season over Kings Point. The Gators are now 15-8 overall and 11-5 in the league, while USMMA falls to 11-10 overall and 7-9 in the conference.

Junior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) and sophomore guard Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) each finished with 18 points on Saturday. Schoff, who also led the team on the boards had 12 rebounds and recorded her 11th double-double of the season and the 21st of her career. Schoff boasts 967 career points with 625 rebounds. She ranks sixth all-time in scoring and fourth in rebounding.

Bowman connected for eight of her points from the line, converting 8-of-11 and finished with three assists, three steals and seven rebounds. She shot 5-of-8 from the floor as well for the Gators.

Sage's senior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) set the program's record for most career games played as she made her 102nd career appearance, breaking the record of 101 set by Amie Jefferson (101). She finished the afternoon with nine points, putting her at 989 career points as she is poised to become just the fifth player in Sage women's basketball history to join the 1,000 point club. She also owns the Gator career three-point record with 180 and handed out two assists with three steals in the contest.  She now has 153 career steals and is tied for 7th all-time with Barb St. Pierre (1984-1986), while adding 182 career assists and is No. 9 as a Gator.  

Sage is back in action on February 14 hosting the Bears of St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn in the team's final regular season contest of the year in a 5:30 p.m. league contest.
