Parslow erupts for 19 points as Sage tops USMMA, 69-47

Albany, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team hosted the Mariners of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in a Skyline Conference contest at Kahl Gym on Wednesday night. Sage tallied 69-47 win to extend their win streak to three games and improve to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in the Skyline. The loss puts Kings Point at 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the league.

By game's end, Sage's sophomore guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) connected for a game-best 19 points, tying her season high.

Sage jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first quarter with 5:01 left to play before the Mariners mounted a run and led 10-9 with 2:45 left in the quarter. The action was tied the action at 1:06 left in the first quarter, 13-13 before Parslow buried a jumper with 0:56 left in the first stanza. The Gators pulled away in the second quarter as Parslow buried a pair of three-pointers en route to her 12 first half points.

Junior guard Sarah Milafsky (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill) hit back to back three-pointers off the bench for USMMA and had six points at the half, while rookie forward Shelby Peters (El Dorado Hills, CA/Oak Ridge) also had six points and six boards in the first half.

Gator junior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) and sophomore guard Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac ) added eight and seven points, respectively in the first half as Sage shot 63.4 from the floor in the second quarter, converting 7-11 from the floor.

Sage opened the third quarter on an 11-3 run and never looked back as they led by as many as 20 in the final minute of the quarter, 56-36.

By game's end, Schoff finished with 12 points and six rebounds while Bowman tallied 13 points with six boards and four assists. Sage's senior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) added nine points with eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Schoff and Pearson are both making their assault on the Gator career record book. Schoff has 828 career points and 528 rebounds is 10th in scoring and seventh in rebounding. Schoff checks in at the No. 38th spot nationally in the latest NCAA Division III statistics with double-doubles, while also ranking in seven different categories.

Pearson has 895 career points putting her sixth on the scoring list and continues to climb the record book in career games played (No. 4, 93), assists (No. 9, 154), and steals (No. 9, 143). She already owns the program's career three-pointer mark with her active record of 159.

Kings Point's Peters just missed a double-double as she had 12 boards with nine points, a pair of blocks to go with her assist and one steal. Rookie guard Kaliegh D'Arcy (White Plains, NY/White Plains) added seven points with five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Sage is back in action on January 14 travelling to St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn for a 2 p.m. Skyline Conference contest, while USMMA is back in action hosting Mt. St. Mary College on Jan. 14 in a 1 p.m. home Skyline Conference game.
