Sage women turn in solid team effort as Gators down, SJC-LI 70-47

Albany, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team hosted the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College-LI on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 70-47 victory. The win puts Sage at 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the league, while SJC-LI drops to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

Sage led 37-18 at the half and never looked back as all 12 Gators scored in the victory. Leading the way for the team was sophomore guard Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) with her 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Gator junior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) also finished with a double-double as she added 13 points with 10 rebound in the contest. Rookie guard Gessica Patregnani (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) tallied 12 points as she was a red-hot 4-7 from three-point land. Rookie forward Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) made her home debut on Saturday afternoon and delivered seven points and six boards as the Gators held a commanding 58-28 edge on the boards.

Schoff is climbing the Gator scoring mark as she has 803 points and 510 rebounds. She is now 10th in scoring, while ranking seventh in rebounds.

Sage is back in action on January 9, 2017 hosting Eastern Connecticut State University in a non-conference match-up in Kahl Gym as Sage's head coach takes on her alma mater and former mentor, Denise Bierly.
