Women fall to FSC on the road

Old Westbury, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team opened the 2017 half of the season up on Wednesday afternoon facing the Rams of Farmingdale State College in a Skyline Conference contest. FSC led 36-21 at the half and despite a strong second half by Sage, remained unbeaten in league play as they triumphed, 64-49. FSC improves to 5-3 overall and 4-0 in the league, while Sage drops to 6-5 overall and is now 3-2 in the conference.

After trailing 36-21 at the half, the Gators used a strong third quarter to make a run at the Rams as they added 23 third quarter points and trailed by just nine points, down 53-44 to open the fourth quarter.  Sage's senior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) added a Gator-best 16 points in the action and just missed a double-double with her nine boards. She had nine points at the break, and added five three-point field goals in the match-up. She is closing in on her 1,000th career point as she now has 867, while already owning the program's career three-point field goals made mark with 155 and counting in 90 games played at Sage.

Gator junior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) was limited to just six points in the game, but had a nine rebounds as well on the day. Schoff is also climbing the Gator scoring mark as she has 790 points and is 10th. Schoff also has hauled in 500 career rebound and is 7th all-time. Rookie guard Gessica Patregnani (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) added nine points with three baskets from downtown, while junior forward Teagan Clough (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) added eight rebounds with four points.

FSC got a game-leading 21 points and 10 rebounds from AJ Smith, while Tyra Harrison netted 13 points in the win.

Sage is back in action on January 7, 2017 hosting St. Joseph's College-LI in a Skyline Conference match-up in Kahl Gym at 1 p.m. in the team's home opener for the 2017 half of the season.
