Gators knock off defending league champions FSC, 64-48

Albany, NY— The Sage College's women's basketball team hosted the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon in Kahl Gym in the team's Skyline Conference home opener. Sage handed the Rams of FSC, the league's defending champions, a 64-48 loss. Sage improves to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the Skyline, while FSC drops to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The victory for the Gators was the program's first home win over the Rams since Sage joined the league in 2007.   

At the half, Sage held 39-20 lead after posting a 26-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.  Sage held the Rams to just 13 rebounds, while holding the commanding edge, 39-13 and limited FSC to a 26.5 FG% (9-34) as well. 

Sage sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) and junior forward Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) paced with 10 points apiece, while they both also had nine first half rebounds. By game's end Sage had four players in double digits as Schoff finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds and Knockwood also had a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Sage's rookie Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) had 11 points with three rebounds and three assists, while rookie Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added 11 points with eight boards.

For the Rams, sophomore guard Tyra Harrison (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) had 11 of her game-best 35 points in the first half. She finished the afternoon with 15-for-26 shooting with a 3-6 effort from three-point range and was 2-2 from the line with five steals. Sophomore guard Marissa Monaco (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) added 10 rebounds with two assists and one steal.

Knockwood continues to climb Sage's career block list as she moved into solo possession of the No. 5 spot with 50 career blocks.

Sage returns to action on December 8 hosting the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference match-up, while Farmingdale State College visits Purchase College for an 8 p.m. road Skyline contest.

Sage will host its Flood the Swamp with White Night with fans encouraged to wear white and possibly win prizes.
