Knockwood's career night lifts Gators past SVC, 66-42

Albany, NY— The Sage College's women's basketball team hosted the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College in a non-conference contest in Kahl Gym on Monday night.  Sage posted the 66-42 victory to improve to 4-2, while SVC drops to 2-2. The Gators are riding a three-game win streak after junior forward Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) paced the team with her career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Sage led 36-20 at the half after holding SVC to just eight second quarter points. Knockwood led the Gators at the half with her 11 points and five rebounds with a pair of blocks. Sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) and junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) each added eight first half points for the Gators as they held SVC to just 28.1% from the floor on 9-32 shooting.

SVC's junior guard Amber Dow (Vergennes, VT/Vergennes Union) paced the Mountaineers with five points in the first half of play.

By game's end Knockwood had a double-double on 19 points and 10 boards with three blocks, bettering her previous high of 17 points. She moved into No. 5 on the Sage career block list with 47 blocks as she leaped past both Erin Willis (44, 1999-2004) and Jocelyn Naple (46, 1994-1998).

Schoff finished with 16 points, while Pearson tallied 10 points for Sage as they held the Mountaineers to 27.7% shooting for the night on 18-of-65. Sage benefit from the play of 11 different players that all scored.

Dow and senior guard Amber Flagg (Windsor, CT/Windsor) both finished with 10 points in the action for SVC, while senior forward Kala Mackenzie (Fair Haven, VT/Fair Haven) led the team with her nine rebounds and two blocked shots.

Sage returns to action on December 2 for a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference road match-up with Mt. St. Mary College, while Southern Vermont College Community College at 7 p.m.
