Colonials spoil Sage's women's home opener, 79-72

Albany, NY— The Sage College's women's basketball team hosted the Colonials of Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday night in the Gators' 2015-2016 home opener in Kahl Gym. The season opener for the Colonials, WCSU posted a 79-72 win to improve to 1-0 on the young season, while Sage falls to 1-2.

Junior guard Emily Dobson (Westerly, RI/Westerly) had a double-double with her 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead WCSU. Junior forward Alyssa Eannotti (Shelton, CT/Shelton) added 12 points to pace the team as they held a 33-26 halftime lead.

Junior forward Akecia Dulaire (Bloomfield, CT/Northwest Catholic) added 11 points off the bench, while junior guard Samantha Smith (Wallingford, CT/Sheehan) added 10 points.

Rookie Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemorea, NY/Saranac) tallied a personal best 14 points with six rebounds for the Gators, while rookie guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) tallied a game-best 17 points with seven rebounds for Sage as she added four three-pointers in the match-up.

The Gators closed to within two (54-52) on sophomore Gen Schoff's (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) three with 1:31 left in the third quarter that capped a 17-9 run, but would get no closer, as McPadden and Martin sandwiched threes around a pair of free throws from Martin that pushed the lead back to 65-55. 

Junior Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) added 12 points with seven rebounds and three blocks for Sage. Junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosic Falls Central) also finished with 10 points with four assists.
