Schoff and Pearson earn All-Tournament Honors, but Sage falls in finals

Keene, NH— The Sage College's women's basketball team faced off against the host Owls of Keene State College in the Keene State Tip-Off Tournament. Tournament Most Valuable Player Stephanie D'annolfo had 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and six steals as the Keene State College women's basketball team captured the 2015-16 Tip-Off Tournament with an 81-65 win over Sage on Saturday. Keene State improves to 2-0 and has won their tip-off tournament all but one time in school history. The Gators drop to 1-1.

D'annolfo was joined in double-figures by Emily McPadden, who came off the bench to score 20 points, and Valerie Martin, who added 18.  Martin and Kelsey Cognetta were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

Back-to-back threes from McPadden in the first quarter gave Keene State an 18-15 lead, and the freshman made another with six seconds left in the period, but the Gators' rookie guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) beat the first quarter buzzer with a jumper that cut the lead to 29-26.

The Owls scored the first five points of the second period, powered by a three from Sandi Purcell that made it 34-26, and five straight points from Martin boosted the lead to 39-28.  Sarah Kober's layup with nine seconds left in the half gave KSC a 45-33 lead at halftime.

The Gators closed to within two (54-52) on sophomore Gen Schoff's (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) three with 1:31 left in the third quarter that capped a 17-9 run, but would get no closer, as McPadden and Martin sandwiched threes around a pair of free throws from Martin that pushed the lead back to 65-55.

Amanda Petrow pulled down a team high 10 rebounds, while Lydia Vital passed out eight assists.  Schoff led all scorers with 22 points.

Junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) added 13 points with six rebounds, while Schoff added seven boards. Parlsow tallied 11 points, while rookie Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Mekeel Christian Academy) tallied 10 points. Junior Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) added seven points with seven rebounds for the Gators.

Schoff and Pearson were rewarded for their play on the opening weekend of play with a selection to the All-Tournament Team.

Sage hosts Western Connecticut State University in the team's home opener on Tuesday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m. in Kahl Gym.
