Sage women's team garners ECAC Bid

Danbury, CT—The Sage College's women's basketball team captured the No. 4 seed in the 2015 ECAC Division III Metro Tournament. Due to a late team withdrawal, Sage will no longer have a first round game and has advanced to the semifinals. Sage will face No. 1 seeded Brooklyn College on Saturday, March 7 at 4;45 p.m. Sage is 18-7 on the year. The championship game will be held on Sunday, March 8 at Brooklyn College at 5:30 p.m.

Sage's rookie head coach Allison Coleman has brought the Gators to a level of new heights in her first season. The Gators broke the record for most wins a season (18), while recording a 12-game win streak as well in 2014-2015.

Sage's senior guard Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) earned additional honors for her outstanding play this year as she was named to the Skyline Conference All-Star First Team, a repeat honor for the captain. She leads the squad with her 355 points this season and 14.2 ppg average. She now has 1,068 career points and is No. 3 on the all-time scoring list at Sage. She already holds the program's career assists mark with her 452 assists. She is No. 2 on the career steals list with 256.

On her final season, the 2015 Josten's Trophy nominee, has been the team's high scorer 11 times this season, including 20 points in the Skyline semifinals. She has started all 25 games this season with 133 assists and 73 steals, while adding 12 blocked shots and 3.7 rpg. She also sports an impressive 77.9% FT%.

Senior center Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) played in a program-best 100th game this past week, bettering the mark set last year by Chelsea Martin (99 games). Named to the Skyline Conference All-Star Second Team, Jefferson added a double-double in the semifinals with 11 points and 10 rebounds. She is the third leading scorer this season with her 8.5 ppg average, while leading the Gators on the boards with 228 rebounds and a 9.1 rpg average. She leads the squad as well with her 36 blocked shots. On her career, Jefferson has scored 645 points, while adding 782 rebounds, which is No. 2 all-time for the Gators. She holds the program's career block record as well with 160 blocks. Jefferson has led the team in rebounding 16 times, while leading the scoring race in three games as well.

Rookie forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) earned acclaim as the 2015 Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year. The selection of a Gator as the league's top rookie marks the second straight year that Sage has had the honoree after now sophomore guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) earned the award last year. Schoff has an 8.4 ppg average this season with 25 appearances. She has a 5.9 rpg average with 18 blocked shots. Twice she has been the team's high scorer, while leading the Gators in rebounding four times.

Senior Sara Tironi (Cambridge, NY/Cambridge Central) is the second leading scorer as she has a 9.1 ppg average, while connecting for 6.5 rpg. She has amassed 622 points and 425 rebounds in her three years as a Gator. She is No. 11 all-time in career rebounding and owns an impressive 46.6% career FG% (222-476), while shooting 75.5% on her career from the free throw line as well.

Pearson has a 7.5 ppg average this year in 24 games. She has a 3.5 rpg average as well with 30 steals and 30 assists. She already has 68 career three-pointers and is No. 8 on the Sage career list.

Senior Krysta Vanacore (Poughquag, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) has 23 three point baskets to go with her 3.2 ppg average in 25 games played. She is now No. 9 in career three-point baskets with 67.

Senior guard Lea McClain (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) has a 4.8 ppg average in 2 3 contests played for the Gators this year. She has hit 47 career three-pointers and is No. 16 on the all-time list. She has also played in 74 games at Sage, which is No. 16 all-time.

Senior Carlee Hirt (Beacon, NY/John Jay) has a 3.3 ppg average in 23 games played and has a 2.3 rpg average, while sophomore forward Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) has been seeing more time at this point of the season and has responded well. She has a 5.3 ppg average with a 4.4 rpg average and had racked up 20 blocked shots. She has moved into the No. 9 spot on the career blocked shot list with 31.

Rookie Teagan Clough (Cohoes, NY/Watervliet) has played in 17 games with 36 rebounds. Hannah Dibble (Summit, NY/Cobleskill-Richondville) has also appeared in eight games this season. Julia Race (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) has added to the team's success as well and has played in 10 games.
