Albany, NY—The Sage College's women's basketball team hosted Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game. The Gators posted the team's 10th straight win as they beat Yeshiva, 70-49. With the win, Sage is now 16-5 overall and is riding a school-record 10-game win streak. Yeshiva drops to 3-16 on the year.
Sage led 42-21 at the half as rookie forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) poured in 20 of her team-best 24 points in the first half. She shot 8-12 from the floor with eight rebounds as the Gators held Yeshiva to a 29.2% FG% in the first stanza of play. By game's end, Schoff had a career-high 24 points and was 9-15 from the floor with a team-leading nine rebounds.
Sophomore guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) added 13 points in the contest for the Gators, while senior guard Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) scored 10 points with six rebounds and five steals and five assists. She now has 1,013 career points, which is No. 4 on the Sage career scoring list, while holding the program's career assists mark with her 433 assists. She has moved into the No. 2 spot on the career steals list as she moved ahead of Jocelyn Naple on Sunday (239, 1994-1998).
Senior center Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) added nine points for the Gators, while sophomore Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) came up with six points and five rebounds off the bench with a blocked shot. Jefferson holds the Gator career block mark with her 155 blocks and is No. 2 in career rebounding with 748 rebounds. Knockwood moved into the No. 11 spot on the career blocked shot list as she now has 24 at Sage.
Yeshiva's senior guard Stephanie Greenberg (Cedarhurst, NY/HAFTR) added 21 points with six rebounds while junior guard Julia Owen (Seattle, WA/Northwest Yeshiva) had 15 points with eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Sophomore Tess Blaustein (Hollywood, FL/Bruiah) added a game-high 11 rebounds and had five points with five assists and three steals for the Maccabees.
Sage returns to action on February 17 hosting Mt. St. May College in a Skyline Conference make up contest. Prior to the 7 p.m. tip, Sage will honor their 2015 seniors in conjunction with Senior Night. Sage, which is under the guidance of rookie head coach Allison Coleman will look to tie the record for most wins in a season when they host the Knights on Tuesday. Last year's team went 17-11 and the 2014-2015 Gators are poised to better that mark as they have three regular-season contests left on the schedule.
