33 Points from Meg Bowman paces Gators to sweep of Old Westbury

Old Westbury, NY –The Sage College's women's basketball team travelled to SUNY-Old Westbury for a make-up Skyline Conference contest on Wednesday night. Senior guard Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) racked up a career-best 33 points to lift Sage to the key Skyline win. Sage improves to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the league, while Old Westbury falls to 8-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Bowman shot a red-hot 9-15 from the floor and added an impressive 12-13 effort from the line as Sage led 36-26 at the break. She led the team with 14 first half points and by game's end had bettered her previous high of 25 points. She added seven assists with two steals.

Bowman now has 893 points and vaulted to the No. 5 spot as she moved past Susanne Booth (889, 1994-1998). She is now No. 3 in career steals with 218, while her 394 assists is No. 2. She is now just nine shy of breaking the career mark held by Karen Harris (402, 1991-1995).

Rookie Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls), the reigning Skyline Rookie of the Week finished with a career-best 13 rebounds with nine points. Senior center Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) added six points with 13 rebounds. Jefferson now has 691 career rebounds and is No. 2 at Sage in rebounding. She has also contributed 563 career points and holds the program's career block mark as well with 145.

Sage returns to action on Jan. 31 hosting The College of Mt. St. Vincent at 1 p.m. in a Skyline Conference contest in Kahl Gym. The Day is Secret Swamp Day and all fans are encouraged to participate in the contests and dress as their favorite super hero or villain. Prizes will be awarded and several contests will be held in conjunction with the day.
