Sage falls at FSC despite career-best effort from Jefferson

Farmingdale, NY – The Sage College's women's basketball squad travelled to Farmingdale State College for a Skyline Conference contest on Saturday afternoon. The host Rams posted the 86-70 win to improve to 13-8 overall and 10-1 in the conference. The setback puts Sage at 13-9 and 8-4 in the league.

For the Gators, junior center Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) poured in a career-high 18 points and added eight rebounds. Joining her in double-digit scoring on the day was junior Krysta Vanacore (Poughquag, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) with 12 points, while junior guard Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) with 11 points.

Jefferson was 7-9 from the floor, while Bowman hit all seven of her free throw attempts and added four steals and four assists. Bowman moved into No. 2 on the Sage career assists list as she has 306. She moved past by Liz Donk (297, 2008-2011) on Saturday.

Farmingdale's Nicky Young tallied 22 points, while making 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Camille Romero added 20 points for the Rams as they remain atop the Skyline Conference standings with Saturday's win.

Sage returns to action on February 21 hosting the College of Mt. St. Vincent at 7 p.m. in the Kahl Gym. Sage will honor senior Chelsea Martin prior to the game in conjunction with Senior Night.
