Albany, NY –The Sage College women's basketball team hosted Albany College of Pharmacy and Health and Sciences on Tuesday night in the "Battle of New Scotland Avenue." The Gators collected the 78-37 win to lay claim to the title this year as rookie guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) tallied a career-high 23 points. Sage improves to 10-6 overall, while the loss puts ACPHS at 14-3.
Sage led 43-14 at the break and was paced by Pearson's 15 first half points as she was 5-6 from the line and added two three-pointers. The Gators limited the Panthers to just three first half field goals.
By game's end, junior guard Megan Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) added 12 points with six assists and five steals. She now has 265 career assists, which ranks No. 4 all-time at Sage. Junior Lea McClain (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) added 10 points off the bench, while sophomore guard Jackie Leslie (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) and rookie forward Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) added six rebounds each for the Gators.
ACPHS was led by the play of junior Alexa Schooley (Auburn, NY/Union Springs) as she had 15 points. Junior Taylor Sullivan (Troy, NY/Hoosic Valley) added six points and five rebounds.
Sage will be in action on Thursday, January 30 travelling to the College of Mt. St. Vincent for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference contest. Albany College of Pharmacy will host Fisher College at 6 p.m. on the same night.
