Sage collects key home opening night win over SVC, 86-31

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team hosted the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College on Wednesday night in the team's home opener. The Gators cruised to an 86-31 win to improve to 2-1 overall, while SVC drops to 0-3.

For the Gators, freshman guard Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) led the team off the bench with her 12 points, while junior forward Carlee Hirt (Beacon, NY/John Jay) added 11 points.  Junior guards Krysta Vanacore (Poughquag, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) and Lea McClain (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) each chipped in nine points for the Gators. Sage connected for seven three-point baskets including five in the second half.

Sage opened with a 34-16 halftime lead and held a commanding 47-33 edge on the boards in the win.

For SVC, sophomore guard Amber Flagg (Windsor, CT/Windsor) lead all players with her 14 points as she added four assists with five steals. Sophomore forward Sarah McDonald (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) added six points for the Mountaineers.

Sage is back in action on November 23 travelling to Utica College for a 2 p.m. non-conference game.
