Hilton, NY –Russell Sage College's outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) earned Empire 8 Softball Player of the Week honors to open May.

She had a banner week and helped RSC to a 3-1 week. She batted .733 with 10 runs scored, 11 hits with a double, a triple and 4 home runs. She drove in 8 runs with a 1.733 slugging percentage, was 1-1 on stolen bases and had a 1.000 fielding percentage.

On Saturday against Empire 8 opponent Houghton, she had a career-day as she belted four homeruns, two in each game as she helped her team to two wins. RSC is now 18-14 overall and 9-3 in the Empire 8.

Papas leads the Gators this season in several offensive categories as she now has 50 hits including 14 doubles, four triples and six homeruns. On her career, she has 146 career hits and is seventh in the Gator career record book, while having played in 91 games. Her 37 career doubles is sixth and she has also moved into the No. 2 for the most career triples with 11. She has also driven in 77 RBI's (No. 11), while scoring 102 runs (No. 6) and has been successful on 20-of-22 stolen base attempts and ranks 12th.

RSC returns to action on May 5 travelling to Alfred University for an Empire 8 doubleheader and May 6 at Medaille University to wrap the 2023 Empire 8 conference slate and make their push for the league's championship title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
