RSC Holds Off Cobbers 8-6

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. –  Russell Sage College split today's pair of games down in Florida.

The Gators opened the day by holding off Concordia-Moorhead 8-6. RSC, which got out to a 6-0 lead, totaled 13 hits in the win.

Junior outfielder Isabella Vano (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown), one of four Gators with multiple hits, went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while senior outfielder Lauren Salmonese (Poughkeepsie, NY/Poughkeepsie) and freshman infielder Amber Banas (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) each went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Bluffton upended RSC 2-0 in the second game of the day.

Offense was much lower than in the opener, with the squads combining for just ten hits.

Freshman infielder Ashley Klocker provided both runs on RBI singles in the fifth and seven innings.

Pitcher Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union), a graduate student, permitted just six hits as she went the distance in defeat.

Looking ahead, the Gators (3-3) are back in action on Tuesday against Penn State - Behrend and Dominican.


Notes: RSC is looking to qualify for the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament for the third-straight spring…14 returnees combined with four newcomers to comprise this year's squad…Outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill), a graduate student, the 2022 E8 Conference Player of the Year, and pitcher/infielder Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union), a graduate student, and senior infielder Katelyn Rice (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) headlined the group of returning Gators…The trio each earned All-E8 honors last spring…Papas and Dicranian both have garnered NFCA All-Region accolades for the past two seasons…Sophomore catcher Serina Garmendiz (Hempstead, NC/Pine Bush), Papas, and Rice were voted co-captains.
