Louisville, KY – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) named their All-America Scholar-Athletes for the 2022-2023 academic year. Russell Sage College’s softball program had seven players saluted for their academic prowess in 2022-2023.
Albany, NY—Russell Sage College’s Director of Athletics Jim Lyons has announced the selection of Stephanie Reinhardt (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) as the next head softball coach. She replaces Erica Li, who served the Gators for five seasons and has transitioned into an administrative role at RSC as Associate Athletic Director.
Indianapolis, IN –Russell Sage College’s softball team wrapped their record-setting season under the leadership of fifth-year head coach Erica Li. Along the way, RSC advanced to the Empire 8 championship game, settling for the program’s first Empire 8 runner-up trophy after a 23-18 campaign.
Marshall, TX –Russell Sage College’s softball outfielder Arianna Papas was named the 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Third Team in conjunction with the NCAA Division III College Softball World Series and the pre-championship banquet on Wednesday night. The award is the first for Papas, who had a tremendous campaign in 2023.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 373 student-athletes from 174 schools who comprise the 2023 NFCA Division III All-Region teams. Russell Sage College’s softball team had two players named to the NCAA Division III Region III First Team, graduate player and centerfielder Arianna Papas as well as pitcher/utility player Taylor Dicranian.
Hilton, NY –The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2023 Empire 8 Softball Championship All-Tournament Team on Wednesday, May 17. RSC, the Empire 8 runner-up, had three players honored for their play at the championship.

Alfred, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball team opened the day needing to beat St. John Fisher University twice on Saturday to capture the 2023 Empire 8 Championship. The Gators pulled off the first step of the feat as they beat SJFU, 1-0 in the first game on Saturday, setting the stage for the winner take all championship finals. SJFU would take the nightcap, 6-1 to record the program’s eighth Empire 8 Championship title,
Alfred, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball team came from behind on Friday afternoon to knock off Elmira College in the second day of the Empire 8 tournament, hosted by Alfred University. The Gators beat Elmira, 7-1 and then knocked off top seeded Alfred University, 5-4 in the nightcap for the day. With the pair of wins, the Gators have punched their ticket to the Empire 8 Championship game.
Alfred, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball team opened action on Thursday afternoon in the Empire 8 tournament. Second seeded St. John Fisher University posted the 9-1 win over the third seeded Gators.
Buffalo, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball team faced Medaille University on Saturday in an Empire 8 doubleheader, the final regular-season games of the year for the Gators. Medaille won the first game, 5-4 and RSC won the second game 6-1. Taylor Dicranian broke the career doubles record on Saturday with a double in each game.
Alfred, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball squad faced top seeded Alfred University on Friday in a key Empire 8 doubleheader. Alfred took the first game, 8-0 in five innings, but the Gator bats came to life as they took the nightcap, 10-2.
Houghton, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball squad travelled to Houghton University for an Empire 8 doubleheader with the Highlanders. RSC’s graduate performer and outfielder Arianna Papas had a career-day as she belted four homeruns, two in each game as she helped her team to two wins. RSC is now 18-14 overall and 9-3 in the Empire 8.
Schenectady, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball squad travelled to nearby Union College for a non-conference match-up. Union won the first game, 6-5, while the Gators took the nightcap, 8-5. RSC is now 16-14 on the year.
Albany, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball team hosted Utica University on Wednesday at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The Gators posted a 4-3 win in the first game and then took the nightcap, 13-1 in five innings. The Gators improve to 15-13 overall with a record of 7-3 in the Empire 8.

North Adams, MA –Russell Sage College’s softball team took two games from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Thursday afternoon. The Gators took game one, 10-5 and then posted 12-1 victory in five innings in the night cap. RSC has now won five straight games heading into this weekend’s key Empire 8 double headers with St. John Fisher University and Nazareth College.

Keuka, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball team took two games from Keuka College on Saturday in Empire 8 action, 12-6 and 12-0 in a five inning contest. The sweep extends the team’s win streak to three games as RSC is now 9-11 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8.
Horseheads, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball team opened their 2023 Empire 8 schedule on Friday with a doubleheader with the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College. Elmira took game one, 10-9 in eight innings and the Gators took the night cap, 7-5.
Troy, NY –Russell Sage College’s softball team travelled to nearby RPI for a non-conference match-up with the Engineers. RPI took both ends of the doubleheader, 8-1, 8-2.
Newburgh, NY –Russell Sage College softball team finally returned to the field after a 20-day hiatus due to weather delays. The Gators faced Mt. St. Mary College in a non-conference play. The Knights took the first game 5-3, but the Gators took the nightcap, 6-2.
