Dicranian earns Gator of the Year status in softball

Albany, NY—Russell Sage College's department of athletics announced their award winners for the 2021-2022 academic year at the annual awards banquet.  In addition to several honors bestowed for athletic and academic excellence, Sage also selected the Gator of the Year Award for the department's 21 varsity sports for the 2021-2022 year.

Senior pitcher/infielder Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) was saluted as the Gator of the Year in softball.

Head Softball Coach Erica Li noted, "Taylor embodies all the characteristics that Sage Softball is about." She added, "Her dedication to her own growth and the growth of those around her have had a positive impact on our program. Day in and day out, Taylor shows up and works hard. During her four years, Taylor has done the little things right to help foster the healthy team culture we have today. I am excited to have Taylor returning next year and can't wait to see what she accomplishes."

Dicranian, who was also a repeat Empire 8 first-team All-Conference pick was honoree was named the 2022 Gator of the Year in softball for her efforts. The lefty, who represented the Gators on the E8 Sportswomen of the Year squad for the second straight year, batted .336 with 25 runs scored and 26 RBI.  She topped the Conference with 18 doubles, which was second-most by a Gator in a single-season (Morgan Dunn – 20, 2016), and logged an 8-8 record with 12 complete games in the circle. Pitching for the Gators in 2022, she led the team with a 3.22 ERA in the circle in 26 appearances. She was also named to the 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Third Team.

Her resume includes several career highlights that include 37 career doubles which is 5th all-time. Her 105 hits that ranks 16th best, and her .385 career batting average ranks 15th best. Add in her 69 pitching appearances which is third best all-time and she is among the Gator career pitching leaders in complete games, wins, strikeouts, innings pitched and ERA as has a 4.47 ERA in 304 innings of work.
