Papas and Dicranian Named to 2022 NFCA All-Region Teams

Louisville, KY – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 384 student-athletes from 197 schools who comprise the 2022 NFCA Division III All-Region teams. Russell Sage College's team was honored as two players were named to the Region III Team.

Headlining the honorees was senior outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill), who was named to the First Team at the outfield. Senior pitcher/infielder Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) was named to the Third Team as a utility player/pitcher.

Last week, Papas was voted the Empire 8 Conference Softball Player of the Year and was also honored as the Russell Sage College Female Athlete of the Year in a team sport.

Papas, who received first-team All-E8 honors for the second-straight spring, closed the regular season as the conference leader in numerous offensive categories, including: batting (.476), slugging percentage (.819), on-base percentage (.163), and ops (1.405). She also ranked in the top five in hits, RBI, doubles, triples, home runs, and runs scored.

On her career, Papas, who was a NFCA First-Team All-Region honoree in 2021, now owns a .503 career batting average to go with her 96 career hits, including 23 doubles, seven triples, eight home runs, and 46 RBIs in her time in a Sage uniform.

Dicranian, who was also a repeat Empire 8 first-team All-Conference pick was honoree was named the 2022 Gator of the Year in softball for her efforts. The lefty, who represented the Gators on the E8 Sportswomen of the Year squad for the second straight year, batted .336 with 25 runs scored and 26 RBI.  She topped the Conference with 18 doubles, which was second-most by a Gator in a single-season (Morgan Dunn – 20, 2016), and logged an 8-8 record with 12 complete games in the circle.

In her time at Sage, Dicranian appeared in 93 games and batted .385 with 105 hits, 37 doubles, and 55 RBI's. In the circle, she appeared in 304 innings which ranks eighth best in career records, while she added 24 wins. She is ranked No. 3 with her 69 career appearances, having compiled a 4.47 ERA.

All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced on May 24.
