Gators Earn Split of E8 Doubleheader at Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Russell Sage College defeated host Nazareth 6-1 to salvage a split of this afternoon's Empire 8 Conference doubleheader.

The Gators scored four runs in the first inning of the road victory. Senior infielder Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) doubled home a pair to highlight the rally.

RSC added a pair of runs in the seventh. Sophomore catcher/infielder Amelia Wasilko (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) (above) and infielder Emily Agate (Franklin Square, NY/H. Frank Carey), a grad student, knocked in the insurance markers with RBI singles.

The Gators began the day with a 4-3 setback.

Senior outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill), who was named the E8 Player of the Week on Monday, went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in the opener. She finished the afternoon 4-for-7 with four runs scored and three RBI.

Rookie infielder Maggie Burdick went 4-for7 with a run scored and an RBI across the twin-bill to pace the Golden Flyers (13-15/6-6 E8).

RSC (10-16/3-4 E8) plays at St. John Fisher tomorrow afternoon. The E8 doubleheader is set to start at 1:00 pm.


Notes: Papas was named the E8 Player of the Week on Monday. She slashed .556/1.000/.609 with seven runs scored, six RBI, and five doubles, across six games last week.
