Gators Split Home Doubleheader with MCLA

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College split this afternoon's home doubleheader with MCLA. The Gators (8-14) edged the visitors 2-1 in the opener, before falling 1-0 in the second game.

Junior right-hander/infielder Makayla Lindsey (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) helped get RSC on the board in the first, driving in senior outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) with a single.  Papas added what proved to be the deciding marker with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

The Trailblazers (3-18) halved their deficit in the top of the sixth with an unearned run.

Junior infielder Madison Teta plated the lone run of the nightcap with a bases loaded single in the seventh. She finished the twin-bill 3-for-7 with the game-winning RBI.

Junior infielder Katelyn Rice (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) and Lindsey each had two hits on the day to lead the RSC offense.

The Gators are scheduled to return to Empire 8 Conference play on Saturday at Utica. The doubleheader is slated to start at 1:00 pm.
