RSC Comeback Attempt Falls Short vs. Dominican

LEESBURG, Fla.  – After Monday's off day, Russell Sage College returned to the field by dropping a pair of contests at THE Spring Games this afternoon.

The Gators began the day by falling 10-3 to Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

Junior infielder Makayla Lindsey (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) got RSC on the board in the first with a two-run homer.  She was one of three Gators that had two hits in the opener. Infielder Emily Agate (Franklin Square, NY/H. Frank Carey), a grad student, was 2-for-2 with a run scored and junior outfielder Lauren Salmonese (Poughkeepsie, NY/Poughkeepsie) went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Monks (2-2), which recorded 14 hits in the victory, used a three-run fourth and a four-run fifth to overcome the early deficit. Freshman infielder Laurel Clace went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while senior designated player Bailey Rassol was 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored to lead SJC.

RSC closed the day with a 2-1 setback to Dominican University.

Trailing 2-0, the Gators scored a run in the sixth and had the tying run at third in the seventh but were unable to knot the contest.

Agate (above) was 1-for-3 with an RBI to lead RSC in the nightcap. She finished the afternoon 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Stars (7-1) took the lead in the first when sophomore infielder Theresa Wilsterman doubled home a pair. She was 2-for-3 in the game.

Looking ahead, RSC (1-6) is scheduled to play Wentworth and Eastern Nazarene tomorrow afternoon.


Notes: The Gators have 12 returnees to this year's roster…Senior left hander/infielder Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) and senior outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) headline the dozen…The duo each earned All-Region honors from the NFCA last spring…Head Coach Erica Li, now in her fourth season, added seven newcomers to the squad.
