Gators Fall Twice in Florida

LEESBURG, Fla. – Russell Sage College dropped a pair of contests at THE Spring Games this afternoon.

The Gators (2-2) began the day by falling 11-3 to Penn State-Behrend in five innings.

After both teams put across two runs in the first, senior outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) doubled and scored on a single by senior designated player Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) to put RSC ahead 3-2 in the second.

The Lions (1-0) answered with a five-run third and wrapped things up early on a grand slam by junior catcher Cami McNaly.

Papas was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while junior infielder Makayla Lindsey (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) and infielder Emily Agate (Franklin Square, NY/H. Frank Carey), a grad student, (above) also had RBI singles.

McNaly went 3-for-4 with four RBI, while freshman designated player Jocelyn McNaly was 3-for-4 with three runs scored to lead Penn State - Behrend.

In the second game of the day, Penn State-Berks defeated the Gators 12-0 in five innings.

The Nittany Lions (1-0) put up crooked numbers in the first four frames and totaled 16 hits in the win.

Sophomore catcher Amelia Wasilko (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) went 2-for-2 to lead the RSC offense.

Looking ahead, the Gators continue their Florida trip tomorrow with a pair of games. RSC is slated to face Lakeland at 3:00 pm and Ursinius at 5:15 pm.
