Hilton, NY--This year, Empire 8 will expand its postseason tournaments for men's and women's basketball, field hockey, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball to six teams and softball to five teams as voted on by the league's Athletic Directors and approved by the Empire 8 President's Council. This year's limited expansion is the second non-emergent growth in the conference's 24-year history as a multi-sport conference.

Albany, NY – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes, has saluted five Russell Sage College softball players for their academic prowess in 2021-2022. The Gators, which earned their second consecutive Empire 8 Tournament appearance in 2022, once again had a number of players that had a 3.5 or high cumulative grade point average for the academic year.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 384 student-athletes from 197 schools who comprise the 2022 NFCA Division III All-Region teams. Russell Sage College’s team was honored as two players were named to the Region III Team. Headlining the honorees was senior outfielder Arianna Papas, who was named to the First Team at the outfield. Senior Taylor Dicranian was named to the Third Team as a utility player/pitcher.

Schenectady, NY – Russell Sage College split this afternoon's doubleheader at Union College. After falling in the opener 7-2, the Gators (7-13) salvaged the split with a convincing 11-1 victory in the second game. Union moves to 10-6 on the year.
Elmira, NY – Russell Sage College’s softball team traveled to Elmira College for a scheduled Empire 8 doubleheader. After a delayed start to weather for the games, the first game only went five innings before being halted to weather as the Soaring Eagles held a 6-0 lead.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College senior pitcher/infielder Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) was named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 27.
Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Russell Sage College travelled to Skidmore College on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference twinbill with the Thoroughbreds. Skidmore took both games, 8-0 and 6-3.
TROY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College travelled to Troy on Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader with the RPI Engineers. RPI took the first game, 8-0, but the Gators took the second game, 4-2. With their victory in the nightcap, the Gators snapped RPI’s 21-game win streak over Sage, dating back to April 16, 2001.
