LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A trio from Russell Sage College were named 2021 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes, announced earlier this summer.

Senior infielder Emily Agate (Franklin Square, NY/H. Frank Carey), junior infielder Katelyn Rice (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) and sophomore catcher/infielder Sydney Benton (Gloversville, NY/Mayfield) were cited by the Association for their efforts in the classroom.

"I'm very proud of Emily, Katelyn and Sydney for their hard work in the classroom this spring," said head coach Erica Li. "They did a tremendous job of navigating the COVID-impacted semester, both on and off the field."

Student-athletes must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher to earn this academic distinction.

Established in 1983, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play. Although collegiate coaches comprised the majority of the organization's membership in the early days, today they are joined by high school, travel ball, professional and international coaches, along with umpires, clubs, companies and fans of fastpitch softball. Growing from 40 members in 1983 to over 5,500 today, the NFCA boasts members from all 50 states and several international countries.
