Rimawi saluted by Empire 8 with Player of the Week status

Rochester, NY – Sage's softball team member Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), a graduate player on the Gator team, was named the Empire 8 Softball Player of the Week for her outstanding play last week.

Rimawi had an amazing week as Sage went 2-1. She batted .750 for the week with a 1.250 slugging percentage. In a doubleheader with Skidmore on Tuesday she went 6-for-8 including the go ahead three-run homerun in Sage's come from behind win in the nightcap. On Thursday, Rimawi was 3-for-2 with a double, which marked her third straight game with a double. She finished the week with seven runs batted in and four runs scored for the Gators.

She is mounting her assault of the Sage softball record book with every game she plays. Rimawi now has 104 career RBI's and is one of three Sage players with 100 or more RBIs and she is 3rd all-time. She is also fifth in career runs scored with 96, while also ranking in a tie for fourth with her 36 career doubles as she is now tied with Kellie Jones.

The Gators will be in action next on April 18 at St. John Fisher College for an Empire 8 doubleheader that was rescheduled from last weekend. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
