Silk Lands Skyline First Team Acclaim; Adams, Hart, Rimawi and Ford Named to Second-Team

NEW YORK – Sage softball landed five Skyline All-Conference selections Tuesday evening as voted by the ten head coaches. Junior Alexa Silk (Freehold, NY/Greenville) was named to the first-team for the third straight year at second base while Jessica Adams (Nassau, NY/Columbia), Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), Amy Hart (St. Johnsville, NY/Little Falls) and Allison Ford (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) were all named to the Skyline Second-Team.

Silk's first-team honor comes just one week after being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the second time. Silk has had one of the strongest seasons in program history. This season, the second baseman ended the season with 62 hits, 46 runs, 36 stolen bases, 28 RBI's, 14 doubles, seven home runs and three triples with a .449 batting average and a .746 slugging percentage. Silk, who was named to the Skyline weekly honor roll twice this season, finished first in the Skyline in slugging percentage, batting average, home runs, hits and stolen bases. Her 36 stolen bases rank 16th in the country with her 62 hits coming in at 19th.

Silk had a record setting season shattering the single-season record of 20 stolen bases by Kristen Beikirch (2014) and Carla Pasquarelli (2004). The infielder also tied Beikirch's 2013 single-season 46 runs record. After three seasons at Sage, the junior also ranks in single-season in hits (3rd), home runs (3rd), doubles (5th), batting average (10th). With one year left in her career, Silk is already in 2nd in home runs (17), 2nd in stolen bases (51), 3rd in runs (115), 5th in hits (153) and 5th in doubles (34) in the career record book.

Leading Sage on the second-team was Adams as shortstop. The senior was named all-conference selection for the third time in her career. Adams totaled 46 hits, 28 RBI's, 24 runs, 13 doubles, ten stolen bases, three home runs and one triple with a .362 batting average and a .551 slugging percentage. Consistently one of the strongest fielders in the conference, the captain finished the season with a .950 fielding percentage. Adams finished third in the Skyline in doubles/game with 0.33. The captain finished her career ranked 2nd in doubles (42), 3rd in RBI's (94), 4th in hits (165), 4th in stolen bases (31), 5th in runs (94) and 9th in home runs (ten).

Rimawi earned her second all-conference honor after being named NFCA All-Region last year. The third baseman finished the year with 37 hits, 26 RBI's, 23 runs, 15 walks, nine doubles, nine stolen bases, two home runs and one triple with a .291 batting average. Rimawi was the third most difficult batter in the Skyline to strikeout. A captain in both softball and volleyball, the infielder finishes her career ranked 4th in RBI's (91), 6th in runs (88) 7th in home runs (13), 8th in hits (121), 9th in doubles (26) and 9th in walks (37).

After one season at Sage, Hart has already made a name for herself as a Gator. The second-team selection finished the year with 154 strikeouts with 13 wins over 150.2 innings of play. The junior transfer averaged 7.15 K's a game with a 2.88 ERA. Hart set the single-season strikeout record breaking Erika Daigle's 2014 record of 129. The ace, is 2nd in single-season wins, 4th in innings pitched, 4th in complete games (20) and 9th in ERA. With one year remaining in her career, Hart is 4th in career strikeouts. The two-time Skyline Pitcher of the Week led the Skyline in shutouts (eight) and wins while ranking nationally in shutouts (14th) and strikeouts (21st).

Rounding out the All-Conference selections for Sage is Ford. A pitcher and outfielder, the senior finished at the plate with 29 hits, 19 runs, 18 RBI's, six stolen bases, three triples and one double with a .261 batting average. In the circle, she totaled 60 strikeouts with 13 wins over 101.1 innings of play. Selected to the Skyline weekly honor roll once this year, the captain led the conference in wins while ranking third in triples. Ford finishes her two-year career at Sage 8th in triples (eight) and 9th in wins (15).

The Gators finished the season as the Skyline Conference runner-up with a 22-19 record.

Skyline Champion Mount Saint Mary landed Coach of the Year in Jessica Mushel and Pitcher of the Year in Cindy Connoly for the third straight year. Mount Saint Vincent's Rachel Heizer was named the Player of the Year while Farmingdale State's Jessica Lombardo was the Rookie of the Year.
