Hart and Wierzbicki Pick Up Skyline Weekly Honors

NEW YORK – On Monday evening, the Skyline Conference announced junior Amy Hart (St. Johnsville, NY/Little Falls) and Destiny Wierzbicki (Albany, NY/Troy) were named the week six Skyline Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Hart knotted her second pitcher of the week honor after going 4-0 with a 3-0 no-hitter over St. Joseph's – Brooklyn. The junior three shutouts with 26 strikeouts and a 0.69 ERA. Hart gave up a mere two runs in 26 innings while holding opponents to a .105 batting average. The ace currently ranks 22nd in strikeouts/seven innings (8.1), 31st in shutouts (five) and 36th in total strikeouts (117) in Division III. Meanwhile, Hart leads the conference in shutouts and is second in strikeouts and wins (nine). A newcomer to Sage this season, the junior is on pace to break Erika Daigle's 2014 single-season strikeout record. Daigle's mark was 129 while Hart currently has 117 on the year with four regular-season games remaining.

Wierzbicki picked up her first Skyline honor after a huge weekend at the plate for the Gators. The freshman led Sage with six RBI's on six hits. Wierzbick's .600 average featured two runs, a double, a triple, three walks and a three-run homer that gave Sage the 3-0 win over St. Joseph's – Brooklyn. After a totaling a whopping 1.200 slugging percentage last week, the outfielder currently leads all Sage freshman in hitting.

Sage returns to play tomorrow as the Gators host SUNY-New Paltz in a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
