Sage Sweeps SUNY-Cobleskill in Doubleheader

TROY, NY – Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) went 6-7 with six RBI's as Sage swept SUNY-Cobleskill 14-1 (five innings) and 14-2 (five innings).

Sage (16-10) got off to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Rimawi score on Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) single to left centerfield.

The Gators tacked on ten more runs in the ten more runs in the bottom of the third off RBI's from Rimawi, Dunn, Katie Kovage (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central), Jennifer Onwe (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy Hollow) and Allison Ford (Mechanicville,NY/Mechanicville).

SUNY-Cobleskill (0-10) finally broke Kovage's no-hitter in the top of the fourth when Georgianna Crisci hit an infield single to score Gabriella Barilli.

In the bottom of the fourth, Courtney Laughlin (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) Onwe and Ford scored to put the Gators up 14-1 for the five inning win.

Kovage (6-2) picked up the win on a four strikeout effort while CaseyHaughney (0-1)  was credited with the loss.

In game two, Sage got off to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Rimawi and Dunn scored on Jessica Adams (Nassau, NY/Columbia) and Laughlin singles.

In the bottom of the second, Rimawi had a two-RBI single up the middle before Adams blasted a grand slam over the left center fence. Onwe followed Adams with a solo home run of her own to put Sage up 9-0.

Ford, Silk, and Alexa Silk (Freehold, NY/Millbrook) put the Gators up 12-0 in the bottom of the third off Adams and Laughlin RBI's.

The Fighting Tigers broke Ford's no-hitter in the top of the fourth when Megan Golden single down to left field. The third baseman was plated on a Crisci RBI. SUNY-Cobleskill added a second run Lord scored off a Haughney single to left center.

Sage extended their lead to 14-2 in the bottom of the fourth when Ford and Lindsay Brace (Moriah, NY/Moriah Central) scored on RBI's from Brace and Dunn respectively. Ford and the Gator defense retired the side to hold on the the 14-2 win in five innings.

Ford (3-4) was credited with the win on a complete game, five K effort while Emily Anger (0-5) picked up the loss for the Tigers.

The Gators were led on offense by Rimawi (6-7, six RBI's, five runs), Adams (4-8, home run, five RBI's, two runs), Dunn (2-4, five RBI's, three runs) and Onwe (1-2, home run, three runs, RBI).

The Gators go back to conference play Saturday as they take on SUNY-Old Westbury at Robison Field for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
