Coach Brown Hits 100 Win Mark at Sage On the Road at Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Head coach Jamie Brown hit the 100 win mark at Sage Saturday afternoon when the Gators beat Skidmore on the road 7-3.

Allison Ford (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) and Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) put the Gators up 2-0 after one inning of play, but the Thoroughbreds plated three runs in the bottom of the first to go up 2-3.

In the bottom of the first, Ford had a spectacular play in left field to prevent Kristina Foley from a base hit.

Sage (8-8, 4-0 Skyline) tied it up 3-3 in the top of the fourth when Jess Adams (Nassau, NY/Columbia) scored on a Kiersten Duncan (Millerton, NY/Taconic Hills) double down the leftfield line.

Skidmore (6-10, 0-0 Liberty League) had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the fifth, but Lindsay Brace (Moriah, NY/Moriah Central) and the Gator defense kept the Thoroughbreds off the board with a groundout and a heads-up double-play from Brace.

The Gators got the bats going in the top of the sixth when Adams scored on a Melissa Estremera (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook) single. Estremera and Jenn Onwe (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy Hollow) added two more runs off a Ford double to left field, and Ford was plated the next play on a Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) single.

With Sage up 7-3, Dunn made an impressive stop and throw at third in the bottom of the sixth to keep Lila Rosenfeld off the bases. After another inning of play, the 7-3 score stood, and the Gators won.

Brace (4-3) was credited with the win after throwing a complete game while Amanda Carilli (4-5) picked up the loss for Skidmore.

The Gators were led on offense by Ford (2-3, two RBI's, two runs), Rimawi (1-2, two RBI's) and Adams (2-4, two runs) wile Skidmore was led by Lauren Fortunato (2-2, one run), Dani DeGregory (2-4, one run) and Foley (2-4, one run).

Skidmore took game one earlier in the day 4-2. Foley and Forunato put the Thoroughbreds up 2-0 early in the first off a Rochelle Brown single to centerfield. They plated two more runs in the third when Foley went yard over the centerfield fence.

Sage responded in the top of the fifth when Estremera scored on a Dunn double to left field. Rimawi added another run for the Gators off a Katie Kovage (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) single, but it wouldn't be enough as Skidmore won 4-2.

Kovage (3-1) picked up her first loss of the season on a complete game effort. Casey Attonito (1-1) was credited with her first collegiate win, and Carilli recorded her first save of the season.
