CLERMONT, FL – Alexa Silk (Freehold, NY/Greenville) hit an impressive .625 with four RBI's and two homeruns in a double-header loss to SUNY-Oneonta (7-1) and Wheaton (Ill.) (14-9).

Oneonta (5-1) got off to an early start in the first inning when Jamie Whittam pounded a grand slam over the outfield fence to put the Red Dragons up 4-0.

After a few innings of back-and-forth action, Jessica Adams (Nassau, NY/Columbia) belted a lead-off homerun in the top of the fourth to put Sage on the board. Oneonta responded when Cori McFall hit an RBI single to put the Red Dragons up 5-1 going into the fifth inning.

Over the next two innings, Oneonta put two additional runs on the board off Dana Delgenio and Katie O'Gorman singles.

Sage was led by Adams (1-3, homerun) and Morgan Dunn (2-3) on offense while Oneonta was led by Whittam (2-3, four RBI's, one run) and Delgenio (1-3, two runs, one RBI).

Sage's Lindsay Brace (0-1) picked up the loss, but had a season-high five strikeouts. Oneonta's Amanda Graziano was credited with the win with five K's.

In game two with Wheaton (Ill.) (4-2), Silk led-off the game with triple to left field. The sophomore crossed the plate and put the Gators up 1-0 on a fielding error by the Thunder.

Sage had a big second inning when they put six runs on the board. Kiersten Duncan (Millerton, NY/Taconic Hills) got the scoring game started when the freshman it an RBI double to center field. Silk continued her strong hitting game with a three-run homerun over the center field fence. A Dunn RBI double and Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) RBI single tacked on two more runs to go up 7-0.

Wheaton finally broke their scoreless streak in the third inning with RBI singles by Ellen Radandt and Christina Sandstedt to make the score 7-3. In the fourth inning, the Thunder put seven runs across the plate to go up 10-7.

Silk hit her second homer of the day in the bottom of the fourth. The sophomore scored two innings later on a stolen base and an error to come back within one run.

The Thunder responded to Sage's rally with a four-run seventh inning effort to go up 14-9 and seal the victory.

The Gators were led on offense by Silk (4-4, two homeruns, four RBI's, four runs) and Duncan (2-4, one RBI, one run) while Wheaton was led by Sandstedt (3-5, four RBI's, two runs) and Radandt (4-5, three RBI's, three runs).

Allison Ford (0-3) picked up the loss for the Gators. Jaclyn McLean (1-0) picked up the win for Wheaton with Abby Butler recording her second save of the season.

Sage is now 0-4 on the season with games against Ursinus and St. Mary's (Ind.) at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
