Sage earns ECAC bid; Third Seeded Gators hosting Elmira on May 7

Centerville, MA – The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced the field for the 2014 Division III Upstate-Metro Softball Tournament. The tournament features eight teams with play commencing on May 7 and the semifinal and championship games taking place on May 10-11.

Stevens (Hoboken, NJ) earned the top seed and brings a record of 27-11 into the tournament, while Richard Stockton College (Pomona, NJ) earned the No. 2 seed and stands at 21-15. Sage, which is seeded third, is 23-13 on the year. Rounding out the tournament field is Skyline Conference foe, the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College (Patchogue, NY) with the No. 4 seed, while FDU-Florham (Florham Park, NJ) is seeded fifth and is 17-16. Elmira College (Elmira, NY) is 15-13 on the year and is seeded sixth, while the Rangers of Drew University (Madison, NJ) are seeded seventh and are 18-16. The final team is eighth seeded Brooklyn College (Brooklyn, NY) and the Bulldogs are 25-14 on the year.

Sage will host the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College on Wednesday, May 7 at Robison Field at 3:30 p.m. in a single-game.

The Sage Gators are making the program's third straight appearance in the ECAC Division III Tournament having finished the 2012 and the 2013 as the ECAC Metro Runners-up. Sage and Elmira met in the 2013 ECAC Tournament as the Gators eliminated Elmira, 3-1 in the semifinals.
