Bronxville, NY – The Sage Colleges' softball team faced the College of Mt. St. Vincent on the road on Sunday in a pair of Skyline Conference games. Sage took the first game 3-1, but fell in a nine inning marathon in the nightcap, 2-1. Sage is 12-8 overall and 2-2 in the Skyline.

In the first game, Sage's sophomore pitcher Katie Kovage (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) recorded the win to improve to 7-5 on the year after allowing one earned run off six hits with two strikeouts.

Sage's senior short stop Hillary Faas (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) drove in two RBI's and to lead the Gators and continues to add to her active career RBI mark (109).

In the second game, Kovage connected for three hits as the team's designated player and had an RBI, while Faas had a double at the plate.

Sage's freshman pitcher Erika Daigle (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) took the loss after 8.2 innings of work, while strikeout out six. She has now fanned 79 batters on the season and continues to climb on both the single-season and career strikeout lists. She stands No. 2 now in single-season strikeouts after starting the day at No. 4. She ranks No. 11 on Sage's career strikeout list and is now 5-3 on the year.

The Gators are back in action on Wednesday, April 9 hosting Union College in a non-conference doubleheader at Sage's Robison Field. Action commences at 3:30 p.m. as Sage is asking fans in attendance next Wednesday to bring new or gently used books that will be donated to U.S. troops serving our country. Additionally monetary donations are also being accepted to help defray the cost of postage to send the books to our servicemen and service women.
