Troy, NY - The Sage Colleges softball team split a pair of games with Mount Saint Vincent College Saturday afternoon at Robison Field. In the first game the Gators fell 9-19 in five innings, only to battle back and take the second game by a score of 5-4.
The Dolphins used a eight run first inning to go ahead of 8-0 and
hold on to secure the win. The Gators scored four runs in the
bottom of the first, including Jen Ahearn
(Cohoes, NY) connecting on her third home run of the season.
Ahearn finished the game going 2-2, with three runs batted
in. Kellie Jones (Troy, NY) went 3-3 for the
Gators, with two doubles and two RBI's. Meghan
Welcome (Cohoes, NY) recorded the loss for Sage.
In the second game the Gators hit two home runs in the bottom of
the fifth inning to go ahead 5-4 and hold on for their first
conference win of the year. Jones went 1-2
with a home run, while Maria Pasquarelli
(Amsterdam, NY) connected on the second home run of the fifth
inning. Rebecca Gregory (Hudson, NY) added
some offense for Sage as well going 2-4 with a double and a
single. Kristen Knights (Chatham, NY)
picked up her third win of the season, allowing only two hits in
the game.
Sage returns to the field Sunday, March 29th at 1pm as they play host to non-conference opponent Johnson State College at Robison Field.
