Sage Drops Both Games In Final Day Of NTC Spring Break Games

Clermont, FL - In the final day of the National Training Center Spring Games The Sage Colleges dropped both contests to Simmons College and Penn State Behrend, respectively.

            In the first game of the day the Gators faced Simmons College and found themselves down 3-0 after the first inning.  Simmons scored in each of the next three innings to put Sage away 12-2 in five innings.  Jen Ahearn (Cohoes, NY) and Maria Pasquarelli (Amsterdam, NY) both crossed the plate for the Gators in the top of the third inning to help the Gators rally, Sage only recorded one hit for the rest of the game.  Ahearn went 1-3 with a double, while Pasquarelli went 1-3 with a triple.  Sara Rysedorph (Troy, NY) took to the rubber for Sage and recorded the loss, giving up nine hits and eleven earned runs. 

            The Gators broke out of their offensive slump in the second game of the day against Penn State Behrend, scoring the first four runs of the game over three innings.  In the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings Behrend tallied a total of nine runs to take the lead and cruise to the win in the bottom of the sixth by a score of 6-14. The Gators were led by Jessica Meyers (Cohoes, NY) as she went 2-3 with two singles.  Kellie Jones (Troy, NY) was aggressive on the base paths and crossed the plate three times for Sage, while Rebecca Gregory (Hudson, NY) went 1-2 with a single and a walk.  Kristen Knights (Chatham, NY) recorded the loss for Sage, allowing nine earned runs, and eleven hits.

            The Gators are off until Sunday, March 22nd when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College.
