Sage Splits Non-Conference Double Header

Clermont, FL - The Sage Colleges Softball team split a double header with non-conference opponent SUNY IT, 1-3, 12-4.

In game one the Gators and Wildcats were scoreless through three innings, until SUNY-IT drove in two runs in the top of the fourth. Threatening to score again, the Wildcats had the bases loaded, but the Gators were able to get out of the inning with a ground out. Sage threatened in both the bottom of the fifth and sixth, but each time left a runner in scoring position. SUNY-IT added one more run in the top of the seventh to secure the 3-1 win. Maria Pasquarelli (Amsterdam, NY) stole two bases while leading the Gators.

Game two saw the Gators get hot at the plate. Sara Rysedorph (Troy, NY) went one single shy of hitting a cycle as she recorded a double, triple and a three run home run. Kellie Jones (Troy, NY) recorded two singles going 2-3 in the game. Pasquarelli continued her consistency at the plate as she hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to turn a tie game into a four run lead for the Gators.

Sage returns to the field Wednesday, April 23rd as they host SUNY New Paltz at 4pm.
