Troy, NY – The Sage Colleges Softball team split a
twinbill with conference opponent Old Westbury 5-4, 7-10. Sage
moves to 2-8 in the conference while the Panthers move to 4-6.
In game one Old Westbury scored early in the first inning, but Sage
came out swinging in the bottom of the inning gaining a quick two
to one advantage. There were numerous lead changes throughout the
remainder of the game. The Gators found themselves heading into the
bottom tied up with the Panthers. Maria
Pasquarelli (Amsterdam, NY) singled to get on base and
Abigail Badger (Virginia Beach, VA) hit a triple
to score Pasquarelli for the game winning run.
Badger went 3-4 with two RBI’s, while Pasquarelli went 2-4
scoring twice. Sara Rysedorph (Troy, NY) hit her
second home run of her career for Sage.
The Gators scored two quick runs in the bottom of the first inning
to take an early lead and continued to score through the fourth.
However, the Panthers crossed the plate six times in the top of the
second and never looked back. Sage was led by Rebecca
Gregory (Hudson, NY) as she went 2-4 with three stolen
bases. Dacia Shears (Maine, NY) recorded two RBIs,
while Pasquarelli continued with her consistent
bat going 2-3 with an RBI.
The Gators return to the field Tuesday as they host non-conference
opponent SUNY-IT at 5pm.
