Nova and Young saluted by Empire 8 as members of All-Conference Cross Country Teams

Hilton, NY — Russell Sage College's men's cross country team had two performers named to the Empire 8 Men's Cross Country All-Conference Team with the release from the conference on Friday. Last Friday, the Gators competed at the  2021 Empire 8 Cross Country Championships held at Houghton College's Dreams Course. RSC did not score as a team at the meet, but had two performers honored.

RSC's rookie Dominic Nova (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) was named to the Empire 8 Second Team. He was the top the top finisher for the Gator men as he took home 14th with a time of 20:10.5. Last month, Nova was named the Rookie of the Meet at the 2021 Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 Spring Men's Cross Country Sportsman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.

RSC's junior Jared Young (Winthrop, NY/Brasher Falls Central) was named to the Sportsman Team for his performance at the meet. Young finished 48th in 24:13.3 at the championships.
