Sage honors Ian Alejandro as Men's Cross Country Gator of the Year recipient

ALBANY, NY The Sage College’s department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2016-2017 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. Sage saluted the Gator Award recipients in each sport and earning the honor in men’s cross country was junior Ian Alejandro (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam).

Head coach Jim Bowles said of Alejandro, “Ian is every coaches dream student-athlete.” Bowles added, “He does what is asked of him.  He has excelled as both an athlete and as a team leader.  His hard work coupled with his desire to excel make him as an individual with unlimited potential.”

He led the team this past fall and was the top finisher for Sage in every meet. Over the course of the season, he had some personal-best performances that included a time of 25:08.1 while competing at the SUNY-Poly Short Course race. A member of Sage’s men’s outdoor track and field team, he is majoring in biology at Sage.
