In his first season at Sage, Juan Reyes-Alvarez etched his name into the record book as he became the first Gator to earn Skyline Conference First Team Honors after he finished fifth place at the 2012 Skyline Conference Championships in 28:48.55. He was part of the Gators’ third place team at the meet and was named the Skyline Conference Rookie and Runner of the Week once. He also earned three selections to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll as a rookie.

He was named to the 2012-2013 Sage Scholar-Athlete Team and was also named the cross country team’s Gator of the Year award recipient. The program’s first Skyline Conference First Team All-Star, Reyes-Alvarez finished in fifth place at the meet as a sophomore and helped the team to a third place finish. In addition, he added a pair of Top 20 finishes in three other meets, while recording an impressive finish at the ECAC Division III Championships.

At the 2013 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships, Reyes-Alvarez finished in third place overall with his time of 28:33.00. He earned his second consecutive Skyline Conference All-Star First selection for his efforts and becomes the young program's first two-time Skyline Conference All-Star honoree. He was named the 2013 Skyline Conference Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was named to the 2013-2014 Sage Scholar-Athlete Team as well as he boasts an impressive 3.467 grade-point average and is majoring in business at Sage.

In the 2014 season, Reyes-Alvarez finished fifth at the Skyline Cross Country Championship with a time of 29:22.3. He became the program’s first three-time Skyline First Team All-Star. The junior’s PR on the year came at Green Mountain College when he finished with a 27:26. Reyes-Alvarez finished in the top 10% of runners in half his races, including a fourth place finish at the Knight Invitational at Mount Saint Mary. He was named the Skyline Conference Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row, along with Sage’s Men’s Cross Country Gator of the Year Award for the third straight year.

2015 brought another year of success for Reyes-Alvarez when he became the program’s first four-time All-Conference performer. The senior received Skyline First Team honors with a fifth place finish at the conference meet with a time of 29:10.3. Reyes-Alvarez recorded a career personal best at the Bard Raptors Invitational with a time of 26:59. He finished in the 10% of runners in every race this season except two, including a third place finish at the Steven Warde Invitational (SUNY-Cobleskill).

Also a member of Sage’s inaugural men’s outdoor track and field team, he etched his name into the Gator track record book as he was the first Sage track and field competitor to win an individual event. While competing at the Wesleyan University Swanson Invitational, he won the men’s 5,000 meter run in 17:05.74.

A graduate of Shaker High School, he participated in both cross country and track. In cross country he was part of a team that earned Federations, sectional and Suburban Council titles.

He is majoring in business at Sage and is the son of Juan and Veronica Alvarez.
