Sage men's cross country squad wraps action at ECAC Championships

Bristol, RI---The Sage Colleges' men's cross country team was in action on Saturday at the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championships held at Colt State Park.

The Williams College Ephs captured their eighth Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Men's Cross Country Championship in nine years on Saturday at Colt State Park, winning the 2013 Championship with a combined score of 26 points. Williams junior Cole Townsend (Buffalo, N.Y.) was the individual champion, finishing the 8,000 meter course in 25:43, eight seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Todd Ford (Glenview, Ill./25:51).

The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) took the top-five positions in the team championship. Tufts University finished in second-place with 75 points, followed by 2012 ECAC Division III Men's Cross Country Champion Amherst College in third-place with 84 points. The Colby College Mules combined for 141 points, good enough for fourth-place and Middlebury College completed the top-five with 175 points.

The Ephs had four student-athletes finish in the top-ten of the individual competition, including the top three runners. Williams sophomore Kieran Scannell (Grand Marais, Minn.) came in right behind Townsend and Ford in third-place, with a time of 26:00. Freshman teammate David Folsom (Hampton, N.J.) ran the race in 26:11, finishing in seventh-place.

Sage's sophomore Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) was the top finisher for the Gators as well as all Skyline Conference runners on Saturday as he posted an 80th place finish in 27:43.50.

Senior Cory Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) picked up a 210th place finish in 30:30.61, while senior co-captain Bryan Kelly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley Central) picked up 284th place in 34:05.98.

Junior co-captain Taylor McMillen (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) posted a time of 35:15.82 and finished in 289th place for the Gators.  Junior Anthony Crawford (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy) posted a time of 38:55.76 and finished in 299th place.

Sage returns to action on November 16 travelling to the 2013 NCAA Division III Regional Championships at SUNY-Geneseo.
