Sage Runners finish strong at Skyline Championships; Reyes-Alvarez takes 3rd

Bronx, NY---The Sage Colleges' men's cross country team was in action on Sunday at the 2013 Skyline Conference Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. Sage's men's team finished in fifth place.

Sophomore Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) picked up his second straight first team award after taking home third place at the race.

St. Joseph's College (LI) won the women's race with a score of 24 for the day, while Sage took home fourth with a score 112. St. Joseph's also won the men's crown with a score of 46 points to Sage's 149 points which earned the Gators a fifth place showing.

For the Sage men's team, Juan Reyes-Alvarez posted a third place finish with his time of 28:33.00 and earned his second consecutive Skyline Conference All-Star First selection for his efforts and becomes the young program's first two-time Skyline Conference All-Star honoree. A year ago, he finished in fifth place at the championship as a rookie.

Next to place for the Gators was junior Josh Myers (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) as he took home 26th place in 31:14.13. He finished just ahead of senior Cory Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) who took home 27th place in 31:14.97.

Junior co-captain Taylor McMillen (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) posted a time of 34:57.52 and finished in 44th place for the Gators.  Junior James Carroll (Troy, NY/Home Schooled) posted a 49th place finish with his time of 35:57.08.  

Junior Anthony Crawford (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy) posted a time of 36:46.91 to finish in 51st place, while senior co-captain Bryan Kelly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley Central) picked up 53rd place in 36:53.07.

Sage returns to action on November 9 travelling to the 2013 ECAC Division III Championships that will be held at Colt State Park (Bristol, RI). With the women's race is at noon and the men's race follows at 1 p.m.
