SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Russell Sage College freshman outside hitter Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie) was voted the New England Volleyball Conference Rookie of the Year.  Results of the voting, conducted by the league's eight head coaches, were announced by the Conference office earlier today.

Fox excelled offensively and defensively this spring, helping the Gators qualify for the inaugural NEVC Championship Tournament. He entered the postseason ranked fourth in the Conference with 267 kills and 153 digs and fifth with 52 total blocks.

"I am very proud of Dylan for receiving this award," said Head Coach Reid Hartl. "He's put in a lot of hard work this season and it clearly has paid off. I am looking forward to seeing his growth over the next three years and everything he is able to accomplish."

The outside hitter, selected the NEVC Rookie of the Week five times, registered double-digit kills on 12 occasions and tallied two double-doubles. The Empire 8 Conference also chose the Albany native as its Rookie of the Year.

One member of each school made the NEVC Sportsmanship Team. Sophomore middle hitter Alexander Bergman (Gusev, Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia/West Grand (CO)) represented the Gators on the squad.  Bergman appeared in all 29 games and recorded 28 aces and 29 total blocks, good for second and third on RSC.

The Gators (7-22/2-5 NEVC) fell in the Quarterfinals of the NEVC Championship Tournament.

The NEVC is a NCAA Division III single-sport conference sponsoring the sport of men's volleyball. The conference is comprised of eight institutions, Bard College, Eastern Nazarene College, Endicott College, Nichols College, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Potsdam, Russell Sage College, and Vermont State: Johnson.
