Tortorici and Occelin Lead Gators vs. Elms

ALBANY, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College had a pair of players record career-highs in kills during tonight's 3-1 non-conference loss to visiting Elms.

Senior opposite Elijah Tortorici (Clifton Park, NY/Mohonasen) registered 16 kills, while junior opposite Wylkins Occelin (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) finished off eight rallies. The effort marked the third time in the past four games, and fourth time this spring, that Tortorici tallied double-digit kills.

Setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Township), a graduate student, dished out 29 assists, while sophomore setter/outside hitter Jack McWilliam (Fishkill, NY/Arlington) elevated 11 Elms attacks.

Freshman setter/right side Jairam Rodriguez and senior middle hitter Moose Perry contributed 10 kills apiece to lead the Blazers (1-7). Rodriguez added 10 digs for a double-double, while Perry totaled three blocks.

RSC (3-9) returns to the court on Saturday with two matches at the Nichols tri-match.


Notes: The Gators began their second spring with Reid Hartl at the helm…He guided RSC to a spot in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship Tournament in his debut campaign…Seven players returned from the squad…The Gators were picked to finish seventh in the conference by the member coaches…Setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Township), a graduate student, and middle hitter Andrew Samson (Queens, NY/Pathways), both graduate students, were voted co-captains…Jennings began the season with 2,157 career assists, second-most by a Gator…Kyle Ray '13 holds the program record with 2,910 career assists…Four newcomers, two from New York, one from Colorado, and another from Texas, joined the program in 2023.
