Gators Recognize Four on "Senior Night"

ALBANY, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College finished the home portion of its schedule by falling to Eastern Nazarene College 3-0 tonight. The visiting Lions took the New England Collegiate Conference contest by scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-11.

Senior opposite Deshawn Fleary (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair), one of four Gators that were recognized before the game as part of the "Senior Night" festiivites, topped RSC with four kills, and an ace. Sophomore outside hitter Joseph Vice (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) added three kills and three total blocks, while setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), a graduate student, distributed 11 assists.

Sophomore outside hitter Alejandro Garcia Fernandez paced ENC (13-12/3-3 NECC) with 12 kills on .364 hitting. Freshman opposite Jacob Zarges contributed 11 kills and five digs, while sophomore setter Christopher Gil recorded 12 assists.

RSC (4-23/0-5 NECC) concludes the regular season by playing two games at NVU-Johnson on Saturday afternoon. Opening serve is slated for 12:00 PM. 


Senior Night: Before the contest, Russell Sage College Athletics recognized four student-athletes: Fleary (above right), senior middle hitter Mikhail Hailu (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville), Jennings (above left), and senior defensive specialist Asuan Farrell (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen), for their contributions to the men's volleyball program.
