Gator men's volleyball wraps action at Keuka Invitational

Keuka Park, NY–Sage's men's volleyball wrapped up play on Saturday at the Keuka College Invitational on Saturday. Sage fell to Randolph Macon, 3-1 (28-26, 20-25, 25-11, 25-18) in their first match of the day. The Gators then fell to Keuka, 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20). Sage is now 5-17 on the year.

Against Randolph Macon the Gators were paced by the play of senior middle hitter Shane Wenz (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) as he racked up 22.0 points off his 19 kills with a .516 attack percentage with 11 digs.

Senior captain Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) also had a double-double with 11 digs and 13 kills and picked up 13.0 points. Senior Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) racked up 10.0 points on eight kills with five digs.

Junior setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Township) added 33 setting assists with eight digs and an ace. Junior defensive specialist Dan Mackey (Westerlo, NY/Greenville Central) led Sage with his 17 digs in the match.

Against Keuka, Wenz had a double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs with 17.0 points. Sanders picked up four aces with four kills and 8.5 points. Jennings added 28 setting assists with three kills and eight digs, while Martel added 12.0 points with 12 kills and three digs.

Sage's 2020 team members are leaving their mark in the career record book. After Saturday's action, Wenz is fifth in career kills with 698 and is also fifth in points with 886.0. He is third in solo blocks (57), third in block assists (154) and third in total blocks (211), while also now ranking ninth with his 362 digs. Jennings is second with his 1,696 career setting assists and is now ninth with his 53 career aces. Sanders is seventh in career kills with 495 kills, while also standing fourth in block assists with 118. He has moved into fourth with his 157 total blocks, while ranking seventh in career points with 644.5 points.

Sage will be in action on March 18 travelling to face SUNY-New Paltz for a 7 p.m. UVC match.
